Key West Race Week 2002 Fun Awards

Have you noticed that the same five boats always seem to pick up most of the silver (daily and weekly awards)? The Class would like to spice up the Regatta with some competitions within the competition. To that end the Class will provide up to eight trophies/awards depending on your interest. The categories are listed below. Entries will be posted weekly on "Our Tentative Entry List".

RULES: Boats may register for two (2) categories (in addition to the I category), with the trigger for any one category being three entries. The entry fee is $10 payable to the Class Secretary by 12/15/01 (payment options on the next screen). The awards in each category will be made to the boat that is the highest finisher in their class who has not placed in the top three for the week nor has won any daily prizes for the week. If no boat qualifies under this criteria, then the boat that finishes lowest in its category in the weekly standings will win the award. Progress will be posted on the web site daily for competitors. Awards will be presented immediately after the J/105 weekly awards at the Southeast corner of the tent. Let's gather there daily after awards to say hello and to do our post mortems.

PS: Even if you expect to pick up the "real awards" we encourage you to register for the fun awards to promote the spirit of the class.

Pounderosa For boats with two or more crew weighing 200 pounds or more. Yes

Latitude 40 For boats whose home port is at Latitude 40 or greater. Yes
Family For boats whose crew has pair of siblings or parent-child or grandparent-grandchild. Yes
Mixed Gender For boats with two or more crew of the female persuasion. Yes
Greybeards For boats with two or more crew who are older than 50 years. Yes
Unqualified For boats that do not qualify or do not wish to enter least two of the above categories. Yes
Improvement To the boat that has not won any silver or other fun awards and whose
position at the end of Friday improves the most from their Tuesday
position, a gift certificate of $100 to West Marine. 		You're already entered. (No charge.)
